I have built a track record of delivering shareholder value through growth, having started, developed and invested in 20 companies, selling 13 and the hard-won experience of having lost three. Those events can sometimes deliver the most valuable lessons. See my Portfolio page.

This website aims to share lessons on Leadership, events and Media as well as Resources to help you prepare your business to attract Investment, the best Crew and be in shape for international Growth. Most recently, I led the rapid global growth of vertical farm manufacturer Intelligent Growth Solutions, after failing to retire following the successful sale of HR SaaS vendor WorkPlace Systems. Stepping down as a CEO after 3½ decades at the wheel has enabled me to focus on an ESG agenda. You’ll notice that the E and S are quite deliberately not in the tech sector because life is, thankfully, far richer than any one topic.

E: In September 2024 was elected to the Board of Trustees at www.john.muirtrust.org where I had previously been an advisor. The only NGO in Britain that conserves and restores Wild Places, we look after some iconic land, using natural processes.

S: Since the start of this year I have been volunteering in the gardens at Children's Hospices Across Scotland | CHAS Robin House by the beautiful Loch Lomond where you get to help very brave and inspiring people.
